[Position filled] We are hiring a (part-time) developer for our FlowLight project!
Update: We’ve filled that position. Thanks for your interest!
We’re hiring a bachelor/master student in computer science, or recent graduate, who is interested in supporting us (part-time or full-time) with productizing the FlowLight.
Which challenge are we addressing? Knowledge Workers are suffering from constant interruptions in the workplace, e.g. in-person or via Slack, Teams or Email. Studies have shown that these interruptions negatively impact productivity, quality and wellbeing, and increase stress. This is especially challenging in remote work.
What is the FlowLight? The FlowLight is a software that senses a knowledge worker’s current focus and flow at work, and visualizes it in a physical, traffic-light lightbulb to other co-workers in the office (see video and pictures on the right, learn more here). The workers’ flow state is further synced with communication apps, such as Teams, Slack and Zoom to reduce virtual interruptions. A large-scale field study (N=449) showed that it successfully reduces 46% of all interruptions.
What will be your job? In a previous student job, a recent master graduate created an MVP running on Windows and macOS, using React, TypeScript, SASS (client) and .Net 6 (server). Your job would be to help us improve and extend the existing app to be able to make it available to companies soon. Besides a few concrete ideas that we have, you’ll also have enough freedom to develop features that you think will be valuable.
Tell me more: We’re looking for a talented and motivated master student in computer science studying at IFI UZH who has existing programming experience in the technology stack mentioned above. You will have a lot of flexibility to work on this project on the side during your studies, or it could also be a great opportunity if you are finishing up your studies and are looking for a few months’ worth of work before starting a fixed position at a development company. And of course, your contribution will be paid.
Want to learn more, apply or try the app? We’re looking forward to hearing from you! Contact André Meyer.
