Project – Tidy Up (Shutdown Helper)
At the end of every workday, chefs clean up their kitchen, shop owners dim the light before locking the door, and medical professionals change clothes. While these routines seem laborious, they help workers disconnect from work and transition back to their private lives – mentally and physically. For knowledge workers, these natural boundaries disappear day by day, and cloud applications and home office blur these lines even more.
In this project, we want to explore approaches to establish meaningful and productive routines for knowledge workers to celebrate the start of leisure time, retrospect on the past workday, and prepare for the next tasks ahead.
Task description
- Perform a literature review to study psychological aspects of end-of-day rituals and to evaluate similar approaches. Summarize the insights.
- Design and prototype different approaches to support knowledge workers in establishing productive end-of-day routines.
- Evaluate your solution in a small user study.
