Call for Participation: Developer Experience Metrics and Initiatives in Practice
We invite you to participate in an interview study on how organizations define, motivate, measure, and improve Developer Experience (DX) in practice.
Study Goals
Across the industry, companies are investing in Developer Experience initiatives — from internal platforms to DX teams, productivity metrics, and frameworks like SPACE, DORA, or DevEx.
Yet, many questions remain:
- What truly works in practice?
- Which metrics are meaningful and actionable?
- What challenges do organizations face in implementation?
This study aims to uncover real-world DX strategies, successes, and gaps across a variety of organizational contexts.
Interview Study
We invite you to a 1-hour interview, scheduled at your convenience between July and November 2025. In case of interest, please contact Dr. André Meyer.
This is an IRB-approved study (see consent form). Your insights will help advance research and industry understanding of developer-centric practices, and may be published anonymously in academic or practitioner-oriented venues.
Who we are
We are academic researchers with over two decades of experience studying software teams and Developer Experience. Our research included collaborations with researchers at Microsoft, Google and Slack, as well as contributors to the SPACE and DevEx frameworks.
EligibilityWe’re seeking DX leads, engineering managers, internal platform engineers, DevEx strategists, CTOs, and others closely involved in defining, implementing, or evaluating DX initiatives at their organizations. Whether you’re using structured frameworks (like SPACE or DevEx) or home-grown practices, we’d love to learn from your experience — what’s working, what’s not, and what you’ve learned along the way. ParticipationIf you’re interested in participating in this study, please contact Dr. André Meyer. |
